Using Essential Oils for Respiratory SupportMar 23, 2021
One of my biggest concerns in life is keeping my 3 kids as healthy as possible! Being a Minnesota family with kids in a public school, this can be a challenge at times! I have found that keeping their respiratory system strong is the most important for us. How do we do that? By using essential oils in our everyday routine! In fact, my very first essential oil purchased was for respiratory support.
What is the respiratory system and what does it do?
The upper and lower respiratory system tracts consist of the nasal cavity, sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea, lungs, diaphragm, and bronchi. The primary function of the respiratory system is to supply oxygen to all parts of the body. It also filters and regulates the temperature and humidity of the air we breathe. This is a pretty big job since we need to breathe to live!
There are many essential oils that can assist you in maintaining a healthy respiratory system, some of my favorites are eucalyptus or a blend that contains eucalyptus. Eucalyptus is very fresh and invigorating!
Some of the blends I love are called Raven, RC, and Breathe Again roll-on. All of these contain at least one species of eucalyptus if not 3 or 4! Breathe Again is in a convenient roll-on for easy application. I absolutely love the smell of this one as it has more of a mild smell and is great for kids as it is pre-diluted. I use these oils right over the sinuses, but please remember not to get them in your eyes and dilute as necessary. I also use them on the neck and chest area as well as the vita flex points on the feet.
Incorporating RC into your workout routine can be uplifting and inspiring, just rub a few drops on your feet before exercising. Diffusing them into the air is a great way for the entire family to benefit!
